I coulda been a contenda.

Since catting up at the end of last season, I've spent a great deal of time thinking about the Cat 1 races. I want badly to perform well, and I've trained a lot. I got in 362 miles the week of Thanksgiving, and I got in 234 miles the week of Christmas. I got a new bike, a Cannondale Scalpel 3, and I was upgrading and customizing it to my taste. I was really getting my ducks all in a row.
The week of the crazy polar vortex, I did an indoor trainer ride, and I decided to do a training video on the internet. Since then, someone has suggested to me that they don't actually expect you to do exactly what they say. They put the goals high so you aim high, but I stubbornly kept up with the video. Low and behold, the next day I started experiencing pain in my abdomen and groin.
I'm going to keep this short and say they think I have a hernia. I had an ultrasound on Friday, and hopefully, I'll have my results tomorrow. I've been off the bike for a week now. It's the longest I've gone without really riding in... a while. Two plus years, maybe? It's unnerving, and I feel like 2-3 months of intense training is all going down the toilet now.

"I coulda had class. I coulda been a contenda! I coulda been somebody."

I guess I'll feel a little better once I know the results. Wish me luck.
